House Backs Legal Status for Many Young Immigrants(The New York Times) Although the Dream Act doesn't affect me in any way, I'm glad for immigrant students because this might be a sign of hope and give them more will power to do better in school. I've been around many smart immigrants and they're generally harder workers than U.S citizens. They deserve at least the same opportunity that we do because than they can't help America in ways that brilliant people could. It's unfair for illegals that have been here since they were five and it's ignorant from people that don't want to give them a chance. People come to our country to succeed but they're never going to be able to do that if they're not given a chance.

Rewards for Miners Rescued in Chile (The New York Times) The miners that escaped from death about a week ago are starting to receive gifts and other rewards for coming out alive. Each of the 33 miners received $10,000 and have been offered a vacation trip for one week in Greece. They also will receive jerseys signed by professional players and the new ipods. I would like to talk to one of the miners to be able to ask them if everything he just witnessed was worth it. I feel like being trapped underground would be a great experience if only I knew I was coming out of alive. But these miners thought it was their time to go. If I was asked to go through something like this and receive rewards and glory in return I would take the opportunity. Anyway I'm glad for the miners because they survived.

Donors Sends Millions to Defend Arizona Law (The Wall Street Journal) The Arizona Senate Bill 1070 is probably the topic most talked about between illegals and political figures. I'm not an illegal but I know many that are and they feel pressured through this law even though there not even in Arizona. I personally think it's wrong to tell someone that he or she is illegal just because he comes from another country. The people that are pressuring this law are kind of ignorant because they're not realizing they're ancestors were "illegal" too. It is a big debate but I think that there are many Mexicans in our country that don't do any harm to anyone and the actually want to work to hep their family out, just like everyone else. If it's because we commit crime, than those should be sent to jail. If you're don't understand the harm that the SB 1070 is causing then imagine walking around in Arizona and because of the way that you looked you get asked for your documentations. In your own country! I think it is a little offensive but I'm not the one calling the shots.

FIFA Widens Corruption Probe (The Wall Street Journal) Soccer is the most beautiful sport in the world. Everyone watched soccer last summer. The white people at my job never watched soccer in their life but the World Cup in South Africa attracted everyone's eyes for at least ten minutes. I personally love soccer for the fact that it bonds people from all over the world, so when I see an article like this angers me. To think that the favorite candidates to host the World Cup in 2018 and 2022 have voters that are willing to cheat just to assure their spot. The voting system should be fair because even though their not playing the sport it spoils the game. I want the World Cup to be hosted by the country that can provide the best stadiums, security, and culture. I think the United States has the best of all that and it would be great for me that way I wouldn't have to travel as much in 2022, the possible year that the U.S can host the World Cup.

U.S Economy Grew at 2% Rate in the Third Quarter (The New York Times) I'm glad to hear that the rate of our economy is going up. Although we're still not in a great position, they're signs of improvement which is better than to stay where we were at. This is good news because it means that there are going to be more jobs and more opportunities for people. I'm currently looking for a job and even though I haven't found one this article gives me hope. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in our economy in the next couple of months because I think the media exagerates too much on it, acts as a distraction, and just makes it harder for us to focus on our economical issues.

On the Day of the Dead, Little Music to Ease the Passage(The New York Times) This article talks about celebrating for the dead. In these celebrations people dance and sing. I think it is great that something good comes out of the people getting killed: unification. I love to hear that people dance and sing for their passed away ones and I would love to participate in these kinds of parties. It sucks for the people in Ciudad Juarez because they are witnessing deaths everywhere. I've noticed that whenever people are attacked they don't go crazy but instead they find ways to unite for the sake of everyone alive.

U.S. Added Jobs Last Month for First Time Since May(The New York Times) Finally signs of improvement in the amount of jobs that were given in the U.S. I'm really interested in this topic because it's interesting how one month people have jobs and the following month they don't. I also like this topic because I don't get to see how many people have jobs or not and when I see an article like this excites me because I'm just shocked by the numbers and rates of unemployment. I'm glad to see that the rates of unemployment are decreasing but it is still not good enough. It is a real difficult thing to work through but it is something we must do. Our goal is to try to find me a job so that i can be happy because after all a job keeps giving you money and causes for a stable life. I'll be paying more attention to articles concerning our unemployment to see if we are progressing or not.

For Sale:A $160,000 Apple Computer(The New York Times) Now you might be thinking that that this computer is probably smarter than God. This computer is the opposite. This computer was one of the first from the first generation meaning that it's real old. In the article it says that it could only hold up to 8 kilobytes. I personally think that who ever is crazy enough to buy this computer is just giving out money because you won't gain anything out of this. I do think this first generation Apple computer should be worth a lot because its one of the very first but it's too much to ask for $160,000 because my phone can do much more things. I was really excited when I saw the title because I wanted to learn of our improving technology but instead I got news of an auction that is going to sell an old Apple computer.

G-20 Delays Imbalance Deal(The Wall Street Journal) The G-20 is a group that was originally made to help the Asian Financial Crisis back in 1997(To know more about this group click on G-20). A little more than ten years ago they were a small group that had a goal of helping the economy in Asia. Now it's grown to try to help and stabalize the global economy. There is a big issue with China and Germany because their government over rules their economy and end up keeping currencies very low which ends up damaging the world's economy. The U.S disagree with China because it will hurt our economy even more. I never heard that there was such a group that tried to help the global economy. I think the U.S is right in arguing back because our economy is pretty low and if it keeps decreasing that we could go bankrupt. There must be a lot of fighting in this G-20 because money basically is what controls organizations and if there isn't any money than someone is unhappy. I think that instead of talking about what they want to do that should just work together and pitch in money to try to help every country.

An NBA Fake that Crossed an Ocean (The New York Times) This fake is called the Euro Step. It's interesting how even a skill of a sport from one continent can develop and practiced in another. People tend to believe that only culture moves from country to country but now sports are doing the same thing. Although it's the same sport, it's still played differently. The U.S is known for having the best basketball players in the world but they have to watch out because basketball is growing in other countries and before we know it we might not be the best anymore. The article caught my attention because I like to know what's going on in sports and this was new. This move is developing now more and more around in the States and I'm looking forward to practicing it and using it on the court.

Growing Up Digital, Wired for Distraction (The New York Times) This article was really interesting because it gave different opinions of being distracted with current technology such as cell phones, video games, and Facebook. One bad thing that it causes when one is distracted with technology is that it lowers people's grades. I remember when I was little I didn't have none of the big technologies of my time. But i did have a PS2 and as soon as I got home from school I was playing it. My grades were never low because my mom was always strict about them but I'm pretty sure if I would of stayed at a public school I would of been taken away by video games. Electronics are very distracting and can affect someone in many ways. Although I miss playing video games, I'm glad that I attend a school where it limits the use of technology. I still abuse it, but now I learned that there are much more people with problems of bad usage of electronics and I don't feel as bad.

What I'm Thinking of
I finished ten articles and I've learned a lot about our economy, electronics, and other interesting news that is going on in our world. I feel like my reading ability increased a lot throughout this semester and the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have interested me a lot. Although I only posted ten articles I go to these websites on my own just to check on the news and I read a lot more on my own. I did notice that I read more from the New York Times and a big reason for that was because they were a lot more interesting. I wanted to read more from the Wall Street Journal but i couldn't find articles that interested me. I must say that my passion for business grew and I will try to improve my reading by reading more articles after this class so that my knowledge of commerce can increase as well.
